The lonely Christmas tree

Last weekend, I posted about our Nutcracker tree. We went with our best friends to the forest and the girls decorated a tree with their best friend. All week, I have been thinking about this little Christmas tree we found two years ago for our "Let's decorate a lonely tree" tradition. It was hidden deep in the forest and we stumbled upon it by accident two years ago.

Yesterday, Elle sang Carols with her school at the Abbey near our home and, afterwards, we went in search of this little tree. When we got to it, I almost didn't recognise it. I had to check back on previous photographs to make sure it was the right one but it was! It had grown almost double in size! It sits perfectly between two firs and I was so happy to be there with the girls and decorating it. It brought back memories and there was no one else about. The mist rolled in and the rain started to fall but we didn't mind. It seemed to make the atmosphere of the forest that little bit more magical.

I think no matter what other tree's we find over the years, this will always be our special tree to decorate!

  1. This is a beautiful tradition. The Night Tree by Eve Bunting is one of my favorite Christmas books, one that I reread every year (and sometimes even in the summertime :-).
