10 years

This summer, Gilles and i will have been married for 10 years. I just cannot believe how quickly those years have flown by. I got married at only 20 years old and having only been dating Gilles for two years. I had a few people ask why i was rushing and, to me, it wasn't rushing. We just knew it felt right and i was desperate to be his wife. He proposed after a year of dating and then the wedding happened and we haven't looked back. Two little ladies, a few pets and lots of amazing dreams happening this year.

Last year, for my birthday and anniversary, my lovely husband took me away to the Lake District for a few days. It was our first trip away together since our honeymoon and it was just wonderful being able to connect and be together just the two of us. This year, we want to do something similar and i have been busy looking at places. I love talking to him about this trip and we are still trying to decide where to go. Ideally, we would love to go to Glencoe in the highlands or Iceland but, because it will just be a weekend away, we don't want to spend alot of time travelling and Glencoe is a good 7 hour drive!

I know that i would love to be surrounded by mountains or hills so the lake district, peak district or yorkshire dales would be a perfect place. We are both explorers and love being able to find beautiful and quiet places to adventure in. When we went to the Lake District, we spent all of our time exploring waterfalls, mountains and driving to take in the amazing views. I cannot wait to be able to do this all over again, just the two of us, making amazing memories.

I love staying in cabins and little cottages but for a little weekend or a few days break, i love just having a base that offers breakfast and dinner so we don't need to worry about it. We stayed in a b&b in the Lake District, woke up early and had breakfast in the dining room before spending a whole day out exploring and coming back for dinner. It just allowed us to not have that worry so it was lovely that it was included.

I have spent another evening looking around at places and deals for us. Looking at ice caves in Iceland and Northern light trips in the Highlands for a longer trip. There is a wonderful website called Great little breaks that specialise in weekend country escapes that i have been looking at. They offer great deals all over the country and they have some amazing little deals in the Yorkshire dales and the Lake District which we have been looking at. It is always so lovely to have peace of mind when booking a break and i cannot wait to finally pick something together and then have that exciting wait in the lead up to it. Oh, and to celebrate 10 years of marriage!

It has been an amazing 10 years so far. There are always ups and downs and we have looked at places like ReGain to make sure our marriage is as good as we can make it. It is always so important to keep working on any marriage and I am already looking forward to the next 10 years!
