One of the main reasons i blog is to capture memories and to document our lives. Recently, i feel like i am letting memories slip and letting life pass by in a flash. I want to capture more, i want to write more and i want to video more. I want to write about our every day days that, to some, might seem a little boring but to me, it is everything.
Last weekend was wonderful. Gilles has started going away early saturday evenings for work and coming back either late on the monday or on the tuesday, depending where he is working. We spent saturday day time walking around the forest and then the rape seed meadows with our dog, Rusty. Gilles then said that he didn't fancy making dinner and that we should go out. We hardly EVER go out for dinner so it was exciting! We took Rusty home and then drove to a pub for some dinner. We took silly photos, we talked about Gilles's future career and just had a lovely time together. We came home and he packed and off he went for the few days.
On Sunday, the girls, the dog and i walked the hour up to my mums house through the woods. We spent the day in my mums amazing garden, walking around her village, playing at the village park and having a bbq. Mum and i taught Elle how to do a handstand and a cartwheel in the garden. It was just lovely to have a relaxing day and to have some company with Gilles being away. We walked back home through the meadows and by the lake and took some photographs in the meadow (whilst Rusty found the biggest bog ever to roll in!!). Mum took some photographs of me and the girls on our walk around her village because i realised that i hardly have any photographs of me and the girls together. This is another thing i want to work more on. I am always the one behind the camera and never get in any of the family photos or adventure day out photos. I need to start allowing other people to take photographs of me in as well so i have memories of me too. Does anyone else find they are hardly ever in family photographs?
I want to document more here, just our simple days out and little things the girls are doing. I have started using vine again and i need to remember to take more "non arty" iphone pics. Just normal candid captures. I have a second instagram account (iwasthesea) where i capture our everyday candid photographs and i am planning on filling that feed up over the next few weeks!
I just don't want to miss anything or forget anything because i haven't captured that particular moment. That is what this blog is about and i am so glad i have this space to remember these years.
I really love that very first photo. It so pretty with the flowers and the way her hair is floating in the air. Hope you have a great day.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos lovely and I agree about capturing the simple moments. For ages I was focused on just putting DSLR photos on my blog but I have recently started putting iPhone photos on there for the ordinary moments and other little snippets. I love to be creative and take nice photos but the most important thing is definitely the memories. x

ReplyDeleteOh I am so with you on the wanting to capture more, and archive more. My blog FAR from captures all we do, and I am not keeping a diary either and I am starting to feel like his childhood is sand slipping through my fingers uncherished, un-noted, unrecorded. I don't know if it would make a good read to blog every day what we do every day, but I have started wanting to. Your words really spoke to me, as only today I was thinking just the same.
