Summer at Blenheim Palace

Whenever I am amongst the backdrop of a beautiful palace or manor house, I like to pretend that I am Elizabeth Bennet or Mary Lennox. It makes everything seem more magical and romantic when you imagine yourself in the 1800's, dancing around the gardens with just the birds and roses for company.

Blenheim Palace. The most magical of places with painted ceilings, rose gardens and a butterfly house. Yesterday, I was kindly invited to experience summer at Blenheim. My heart was beating so fast the whole way there because it it one of those places that I have wanted to visit for such a long time. The whole day was just me being enchanted by every room I walked into and twirling around under ancient trees.

Blenheim palace is the current home of the Duke of Marlborough and was built in 1705. Blenheim was Sir Winston Churchills place of birth.

Throughout the summer, Blenheim Palace offer lots of events including a lights, camera, action tour which shows you places around the grounds that were used in films. We got to see the whomping willow tree that was used in the Harry Potter films! They also have a Churchill exhibition with history and artefacts of the family.  There is a beautiful walled garden, formal gardens and a secret garden which has a magical, Japanese inspired feel. We rode the little miniature railway from the palace to the walled garden which was really fun! My wonderful husband then helped me capture some of my portrait images as I didn't take my tripod with me.

I now already want to visit the park in Autumn. I can just imagine the low mist hanging over the lakes and the golden trees! Also, Blenheim hold the most magical Christmas at Blenheim which is now on my list to visit aswell! I would love to know if you have been to Blenheim and if you haven't, I hope you might get to experience the magic one day! I will remember it for a very long time.

You can see previously posts on Waddesdon manor, Belton house, Broughton castle, Kirby house here and here, Hidcote manor and Snowshill

  4. Ooo, how exciting! I have only been to Blenheim once, when I was about eleven and I don't think I was allowed inside. It's been on my list of places for ages too. I must get organised and go there.
Beautiful photos (and ooooh I'm drooling over those gorgeous books!)

    1. We should go together :) You would love it. Those books were one tiny section. They have one of the biggest libraries which also has a beautiful organ at one end :)
