My dream pet with Petplan

A little while ago, Elle was given the opportunity to design her dream pet. Elle's favourite animals are Owls. She spent a little time planning what she wanted to draw and then created a beautiful rainbow owl complete with love hearts. I told her that i was going to send the photograph of and some lovely people would make her dream pet for her as a cuddly toy. She was so excited for it to arrive and kept asking when the postman was going to bring it. Eventually it came through the door and she squealed so much as she opened it up. She was just in awe and asked to take it into school the next day. She has called the Owl, Rainbow. She just loves it and takes it to bed with her every night.

This is the sort of thing i would have loved when i was little. I remember having a fairytale book that had my name in that was gifted to me by my Godmother. I was so fascinated and i really thought that the fairytale characters really did know me. To be able to design and have my own pet cuddly toy would have been the most magical thing and i know that Elle would have felt that magical feeling when opening up the parcel.

This amazing opportunity was given to us by Petplan. We have our little doggy, Rusty, and our two cats, Tilly and Katy so we know full well how important pet insurance with Petplan is. Rusty was a rescue dog and we rehomed him when he was 7 and Tilly and Katy were my mums cat's kittens. We got Tilly as a present for Elle for her 1st birthday and then we took Katy in a month or so later. Our pets are such a huge part of our family. Rusty is 11 now and has hit the grumpy man stage. He still loves his walks but prefers shorter walks and then sleeps for the rest of the day in his old leather arm chair! He is a very pampered dog!

Now Rusty is older, it is such a great peace of mind to know that he is insured. I get worried about how his health might start to decline and, with that, comes expensive vet bills but having insurance, it takes that worry away and we can concentrate on just enjoying him and making sure we clean the floors after his has an a swim in the river! Petplan's priority is keeping pet's healthy and their owners happy. They work with over 1200 charities throughout the UK and in 1994, they formed the Petplan Charitable Trust which, so far, has raised more that £7 million towards a better, healthier world for animals.

Here you can see Elle's drawing and the finished toy. I am so amazed at how it has turned out and it has truly made the most magical gift for Elle.

  1. What a precious thing for Elle! That is a really great idea- to turn a child's drawing in their own special pet.
We have insurance for Tommy the cat. It definitely gives us peace of mind - just in case our healthy, happy cat should ever be ill, or have an accident.
