At the train tracks

Elle went to a friends house after school two weeks ago and so Mia and i had some time just the two of us. It was a lovely, sunny afternoon so we decided to go to a local park. Around the park is an old rail way track which we love to explore. Over the last month or so, it has been hidden under stinging nettles but when we went this time, they had all disappeared. Mia asked if she could play on the track before heading to the main park so we started to walk along the sleepers. Mia instantly spotted some mushrooms. I had my book with me and i checked what each one was and we picked a few. They are all non poisonous. I have started to do more watercolour painting and writing in my nature journal so i love to photograph mushrooms to be able to write about them and to paint them. Mia then found some tiny frogs along the tracks and we followed so along as they jumped between the sleepers.

I love afternoons like this. It was completely spontaneous for us to go to the park and i love that she is so passionate about nature. The autumn leaves are starting to fall on the track and i have an exciting photoshoot here over the next month which i cannot wait to share!

  1. Now both mine are at school I get really excited at the thought of some one-on-one time with each of my children. We never get to do a anything as exciting as playing on disused train tracks though. Do you know how long it has been since the line closed?
