Bluebell fairies

Sometimes you just need to pretend you are fairies and go on an adventure. This morning, i found a little bit of writing in Elle's notebook. I won't go too much into it but Elle is a very anxious child. She is a perfectionist and very very sensitive. If she cannot do something perfect, she will break down and start staying that people won't like her and that she has to be perfect. Both us and the school have been working with Elle on this and she seems to be improving but she does have her moments still where she gets anxious and we have to help her through it. After reading a little in her dairy, i decided that i wanted to get her away from thinking about school work. She was asking to do some school work on the laptop and after some tears, i asked her if she wanted to go out in the car for an adventure. We packed up some snacks and headed towards our favourite bluebell woods. Instead of walking over the fields to our hidden woods we love to go to, we decided to go into another part of the woods which was just by our favourite one. Oh boy! We really lucked out and this is now by far our favourite. The whole wood was covered and there was a gorgeous fir wood right in the middle.

When we got to the middle of the wood, the girls spotted some "fairies". They were flying around us and they couldn't believe their eyes! They sat on a log and watched to see if any would land on them. Elle told me that one had kissed her cheek. At the beginning of the film down below, i filmed her saying "they are real life fairies" and i just had to add it to the beginning of the film as she was so excited and mesmerized. Elle asked to take her nature journal and she sat and did some sketching whilst Mia and i filled up the basket with pine cones, acorn caps and ferns. Mia is more of an explorer and is happiest when she is finding sticks and stones. She was singing the whole way around the wood. We kept hearing deers call out and she kept making us whisper so we didn't scare them and so she could see one.

Days like these are my favourite. It would have been even better if Gilles was there but he is away with work at the moment so it was just the three of us. Sometimes, i just stopped and watched them. Both so different. Elle the free nature spirit, quiet yet excitable and Mia the explorer who is quite loud most of the time but so caring and considerate when it came to the animals.

I said to you once before, in a Siblings comment, that I was obsessed with the Flower Fairy books as a child. I still have the full set of them at my parents home; they are so beautiful. And your pictures ALWAYS remind me of them. So lovely to meet you the other weekend!! You're as ethereal and lovely in real life as I imagined you to be :) xxxx

  19. Aw so sweet and duch gorgeous photos. My oldest is also a perfectionist which I find so frustrating - he will screw up work or drawing if it isn't absolutely perfect. He's starting to get better - he's now 8 - but it's always going to be part of his character. Great that you can find a way to distract her - it all looks idyllic!
