Our gingerbread house

Day 7, Let's make a gingerbread house. (You can see our previous houses here/here and here.)

Every year, we make a gingerbread house. I always look forward to it and i love how they turn out. I look on pinterest at all the beautifully decorated ones and with a 6 and 3 year old, that just wouldn't happen. I like to think our houses always look "rustic".

This was a shop bought kit from the supermarket. I used the kit last year as well because it is just quicker and easier to get it assembled so the girls can get on with their decorating, as that is the best bit! The first two years we did a house, i made the gingerbread and used a template but Elle got very bored as i tried to figure it all out so a kit is the perfect solution for us!

I love these traditions each year. I have a few posts still to add up of our activities from the last few days. We have had the best December so far. Every day, the girls get a little note in their advent calendar i made them from Santa to tell them of their activity for that day. The magic every morning when we sit down and open up the letter is wonderful. Elle can read the notes now and she takes this responsibility very seriously! 16 more activity days left and i have some lovely things planned for the girls and for us as a family!
