Paper dolls

The girls advent activity today was a little pack of new paper dolls and outfits. They had a little letter in their number 15 stocking to look in the envelope that was hanging from the stocking. They were so excited and we all sat down in Elle's bedroom to play.

After a little while, i had an idea to make up a garland for Elle's room of some spare paper dresses. I told her that they were magic dresses for her fairies in her room. She has a fairy door in her room and i told her that when she is asleep, the fairies will come through the door, pick a new dress and dance around her room. She is amazed and said she wanted to stay up to dance with them. Elle asked if she could make some clothes for her teddies, so i cut up the bunting up that she had before so she could make some. All of her teddies (and her) ended up with a floral triangle "dress". Mia didn't seem that impressed with the dolls and just played with the sylvanian families in Elle's room instead. I am hoping that next year she will be wanting to play with them more.

I am really enjoying this advent activity. Elle has one more week at school before she breaks up for the holidays, so i have some lovely days lined up for the final four days! I am already looking forward to next year where Mia can join in more. Being only 2, she gets bored and distracted very easily, so next year, i am looking forward to her being just as excited by the daily letters in their advent stockings!

  1. So cute. I remember being at my grandparents house in the north part of Sweden and playing with paper dolls. I could sit with them for hours and making my own clothes for them. Now a days kids is sitting in front of the computer and changing clothes on their dolls...but it is not the same. Thank u for sharing<3

  5. Oh that takes me back! I remember getting a dressable paper cut-out doll for Christmas when I was five or six. Her name was Glynn (not my choice - I would have gone for something much more princessy!) and I spent hours pressing out outfits and folding tabs over :-) Happy days...
