A January castle adventure

It feel so good to get out and explore. To go on an adventure and to just clear your mind and not have any cares. On Sunday, i took the girls to one of our favourite places called Castle Ashby. The orangery there is one of my favourite places in the world. I just feel so calm as soon as i walk in there and i love how it changes over the year. Now it is Winter, it isn't really in bloom but because there are not as many plants, when the sun shines, it streams through and creates a golden hue. It just makes the whole place much more magical and i sat there on a bench for a little while in the sun's stream as the girls watched the fish in the pond. It is the most beautiful building and along with the fuchsia house, it just completely cleanses me whenever i am there, inspiring me every time.

My mum had gotten the girls some fish food pellets as she knows how much we love to sit on the platform by the river to feed the carp there but when we got to the river, every part of it was frozen over. Mia was so upset as she really wanted to feed the carp so we went back to the orangery and i allowed her one little handful of pellets to put in the pond. I know that they are regularly fed so i didn't want her to put too much in. Elle helped and shared with her and their giggles as the fish came up to eat them echoed through the orangery.

This was just one visit there and i know there will be many many more. I am going to get a year pass so i can go and sit in the orangery to draw and write when i need some alone time. I already cannot wait for our next adventure there!
